Students For Social Change Presented by Purpose Generation and Sponsored by Wells Fargo
On Sunday, October 9, Wells Fargo will present the first Students for Social Change competition of its kind during Millennial Week. With the support of a leading D.C. social entrepreneur, this workshop will guide students through a prototyping exercise to dive into an entrepreneurial business challenge and refine potential solutions. Each team will present their solution to a panel of thought leaders in the social impact space, and the winning team will receive an internship offer to join a local social enterprise. Teams of two to three college students in the D.C. metropolitan area are invited to apply, and top applicants will be invited to participate in the event. In 2016, race, civil rights and diversity continue to emerge as defining factors in the American social landscape. The renewed perspective offered by the voices of Millennials has proven powerful in creating space for honest dialogue that provokes change in our society. Moving beyond the singular issue of race, this forum considers the implications of class, LGBT, and women’s issues by engaging journalists and grass roots activists in evaluating the structure of modern day movements in America and the role of Millennials in leading change.
